About

Cooked is a free public-records product focused on federal campaign finance and congressional voting records.

The data has always been publicly available through the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Congress.gov, and official Senate roll call records. This product focuses on making those records easier to search, inspect, and verify.

Data Sources

  • FEC.gov — Campaign finance filings for all federal candidates (public domain)
  • Congress.gov — House vote records and bill data used in this app
  • Senate.gov — Official Senate roll call records used for Senate vote rows
  • LDA API — Federal lobbying disclosures (LD-2 and LD-203 filings)
  • GovInfo — Official bill metadata from the Government Publishing Office

Coverage

We cover federal elections only: U.S. House, U.S. Senate, and Presidential candidates. State-level politicians are not covered by FEC data.

House vote rows come from Congress.gov. Senate vote rows come from the official Senate roll call feed. Some profiles will still show gaps when a public source does not return a clear member match.

No Editorializing

Cooked does not take political positions. Public-facing findings should stay grounded in source records, with evidence taking priority over summary language.

Open Source

This project is built with Next.js 16, plain Postgres, and public government APIs. The code is designed to stay transparent and auditable.
